Bronxville is one square mile of unusually intact architecture: Lawrence Park's turn-of-the-century houses, the stucco and half-timber of Armour Villa, and a village center where prewar apartments and houses sit side by side.
Renovating here means working inside houses with real architectural pedigree and, often, tight site access. Material staging and parking are genuine planning items, not afterthoughts, and neighbors are close enough that how a crew behaves matters.
Much of this housing stock predates 1940. Plaster, knob-and-tube remnants, galvanized supply and settled framing are normal findings, and the plan should assume them rather than discover them.
